Venue : Pan Pacific Resort, Pulau Pangkor

Date : 5th & 6th July 2003

Finally, our Annual Club Trip has come and gone already!!! A total of 11 cars (1 Berlingo, 1 CX Athena, 1 GS, 1 ZX 16V, 2 ZX 1.9i and 2 ZX 1.8i, 3 Xantias) gathered at the Sungai Buloh Rest Area along the North-South Expressway at 8:00 AM. One more car (Paknan) was to join us in Sitiawan, having come from Penang. We reached Lumut at lunch time and immediately set off for the island of Pangkor (Well, almost immediately lar... since we had to wait for the ferry). Everyone was bushed and most dozed off on the ride to the island. But as soon as we reached the jetty, everyone was bustling with excitement.

The Pan Pacific Hotel was nothing to shout about. There was construction left and right. After checking-in, we got to our rooms after a rather long walk but most changed into swimwear and headed for the beach for a dip. This being the inter-monsoon season, there were quite a number of jellyfish in the sea. Thankfully, no one was hurt. Most of whom saw the jellyfish whilst swimming, downshifted and accelerated right out of the water.

Those of whom were more adventurous in the water took off on water craft after which an accident between two of them occurred. Fortunately both parties were unhurt in the incident and "settled the matter out-of-court" (I won't name names here but you know who you are). Others on the beach played a short game of volleyball.

After a refreshing day in the sun, everyone headed back to wash up. We gathered at the lobby at 6:30 PM to head for Pangkor town to have dinner.

We had a sumptuous dinner comprising steamed fish, butter prawns, black pepper chicken (chicken with black pepper), mixed vegetables, deep fried sotong (or calamari according to Jerome), la-la (that some found tasted like oysters) and soup. After the dinner, the rather enthusiastic wives went gallivanting and bought T-shirts, snacks and souvenirs.

We returned to the hotel with our stomachs full (the President got KO-ed by it).

The next morning, there was breakfast and then a session of volleyball. After which it was time to go home. We all headed for the jetty after packing our belongings and checking-out of the hotel. We had a quick lunch in Lumut and everyone bid farewell to each other and left individually whilst some convoyed home (or at least until the highway).

My thanks goes out to everyone who attended the Club Trip 2003 and all those involved in the planning of this trip, especially Azim, for making it a success. For those of you who missed out on it, make sure that you clear your schedules next time and then you can join us!!!
